Any food in its natural state.
Laurie Glass - 06/13/2012
Fresh, local, seasonal; non-gmo, unprocessed, unrefined, unadulterated by BIG AG!
Anonymous - 05/23/2012
Either I grow it or know who did. LOCAL, is usually best.
Gina Woods - 05/23/2012
Real food is food that does not contain growth hormones, routinely administered antibiotics, is not genetically modified, or manufactured chemically.
ElaneAlewyn - 05/21/2012
Real food doesn't need to be organic or grown in someones backyard. Real food can be produced commercialy but must be wholsome and nutritous.
Erin - 05/20/2012
USA farm &/or ranch-raised, inspected and washed and to the consumer... Better yet? Venison

I am single, live on my own, and work a lot. To me "real food" is food that isn't out of a drive through or a microwave. Although I would also consider that anything fried is not real food even if you make it at home or get it from a real restaurant.
Marci - 05/18/2012
"Real" food is whole food. Non processed, free of refined sugars, grown from the earth with no pesticides or fertilizers and must be non GMO!
Pat - 05/18/2012
"Real" food is food that tastes good. If it doesn't taste good it is not going ot be eaten, so it isn't really food if it goes in the garbage.
cati love (kathy romero) - 05/18/2012
Real food to me is non processed and grows on the earth's soil or trees
Deb - 05/18/2012
100% healthy for consumption. NO possible cumulative side effects. ( except the obvious result of over-consumption ).
Diane Shoemaker - 05/18/2012
Real food = food still in mother nature's packaging, as in fruits, vegetables, beans, seeds, nuts. Also herbs and spices simply dried and ground, or fresh without perservatives.
Maureen Goldsmith - 05/18/2012
Real food has to be as natural as possible (not necessarily organic), hopefully no processing, gives my body something it needs and can use. If I don't get anything nutritionally from something I eat it is not "real" food.
Anthony Pannone - 05/18/2012
Let's back up before answering this question. How do you define "real"? I define real as something I can touch, see, experience. Therefore, all food is real.
Kat - 05/18/2012
real food...grown @ home or organic
Sam - 05/18/2012
Real food is food that you can take pride in that you prepared with love for your family. Real food is full of tradition for your family. Real food is full of conversation at the table.
Me - 05/18/2012
Real food is food grown by myself and my family.
C - 05/18/2012
Food that it not microwaved! Food that actually has nutritional value.
Cliff - 05/18/2012
Real food is something that doesn't need to be slaughtered. It grows naturally and shouldn't be contaminated with pesticides or herbicides or preservatives, coloring and whatever else they dream up to make so called "food" appealing. We should also put a stop to the welfare they call The Farm Bill, where people get millions, on top of the millions they get for selling their crop. Oh yeah ... that's fair!
Shannon Grant - 05/17/2012
Natural Ingredients without artificial colors, sweeteners, preservatives, or refined sugars and flours. I believe we should keep it simple,if it isn't broken..don't try to fix it. We need to start to relying on ourselves and farmers more. If we simplified our lives; we might just see a healthier and promising tomorrow.
Judy R - 05/17/2012
Preferably food cooked from scratch, either in my home, or in someone else's home. Even food cooked in a restaurant that is considered "down home cooking."
lucy shorts - 05/17/2012
i always read the labels of course, that doesn't really mean that much. but must look out for all the preservatives.
Craig L. - 05/17/2012
Real food to me is naturally grown or raised, no added chemicals, no over-processing, no additives for color, flavor or expanded shelf life. Things I can grow on my property or pick up at the Famer's market.
Jenny - 05/17/2012
Food made at home not at the college cafeteria!
Wayne Blunier - 05/17/2012
Our farmers produce good food products. They use cages, gestation stalls, etc. for the welfare of the animals. They are not harmful to the animals.
Joseph - 05/17/2012
Food that comes from it's original state. Food not genetically engineered, processed or refined. Food with nothing added. Food that is preferably fresh with frozen, dehydrated or canned in jars being a secondary choice.
gerry furth - 05/17/2012
It is also food that is not an artificial "fusion" of several cuisines
Theresa - 05/17/2012
Food locally grown and food with no additives. All natural.
Cindy Olp - 05/17/2012
processing can add harmful chemicals
David Stewart - 05/17/2012
Food that doesn't contain refined grains or sweeteners. I see that many of you don't care about what is being put into your food. Like the McNuggets you eat contain "dimethylpolysiloxane" which is use to make silly putty.
beccaB - 05/17/2012
'Real food' is as close to natural as God made it.
laura - 05/17/2012
food that is grown not produced in a factory
John Tomlinson - 05/17/2012
What I had for breakfast, dinner and supper every day. Pink slime don't bother me, we have been eating it for years, doing away with it will raise the cost of beef if they quit using it. If they quit then someone will start calling chicken and pork by some different name AND IT WILL stop mechanical cleaning of bones of them, and the cost of that meat will increase also. Don't want to be a vegetarian.
Donna Pastelak - 05/17/2012
Delicious food comes from the farmer who brings it to our food market every day.
Mamabear2009 - 05/17/2012
food grown on my organic farm is real food..
Claudia - 05/17/2012
It's food that God made
Therese - 05/17/2012
Food that is grown, not made. No processed sugars, no processed fats, no processed grains.
Dave - 05/17/2012
Contains at least 3 groups
Laura Webb - 05/17/2012
