Just the facts. From the experts.

Happy Halloween! It's a day for silly costumes, ghoulish decorations and sweet treats - and even President Obama is talking about the stigma of choosing the "right" treats for the occasion.

While a guest on the NBC's The Tonight Show, Obama cited the fact that Mrs. Obama has passed out fruit and raisins on Haloween. He jokingly informed her that, "The White House is going to get egged if this keeps up."

As Michelle Obama promotes healthy eating and physical activity through her “Let’s Move” campaign, the fruit and raisins align nicely with her urging to choose smart and nutritionally-beneficial foods. But the President apparently recommended, “You need to throw some candy in there. Some Reese’s Pieces or something."

“Moderation, exactly,” responded Leno. And our experts agree. Check out comments from Dr. Barbara Klein, Professor Emerita of Foods and Nutrition in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at the University of Illinois in the post Healthful Eating: It’s Not Rocket Science.
