Did you know that in the 1600s, holiday trees were decorated with apples as a reference to the forbidden fruit of Adam and Eve? One year during a poor apple harvest, a German glass blower created round red glass bulbs as an alternative to the apples, thus creating the tradition of Christmas balls/baubles to decorate trees. These baubles have been in production since 1847.
