Tofu Pronunciation

There are many different varieties of tofu and it can be soft, firm or extra firm. What is tofu, though, and how is it used in recipes?

Noun. Tofu, or bean curd, is a soft, bland food made from curdled soybean milk.

Tofu is used in East Asian and Southeast Asian cuisines. Tofu itself has a bland taste, so is often seasoned or marinated to suit a particular dish. Tofu is low in calories but high in protein and iron.

Tofu can be used for desserts, soups, sauces, and even as a meat or cheese replacement.
