Tony Shelton, PhD

 

Dr. Tony Shelton is a Professor of Entomology at Cornell University. To get to know Dr. Shelton, Best Food Facts asked him to answer a few questions.

Tell us one interesting fact about yourself.
My BA degree is in Classics and Philosophy and then I went back to school to obtain my MS and PhD degrees in Entomology. Entomology combined three of my major interests: general biology, environmental sciences and food security.

What are three things that best describe you? 
Diverse interests, hard working and enjoy people. 

What do you like to do in your free time?
Bike, sail and travel.

What is your favorite insect?
Probably small parasitic wasps that control pests, or Morpho butterflies of the tropics because of their incredible beauty.  

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
Help feed the world.     

What are you most passionate about? 
Science helping society.
