Best Food Facts is your expert source for every course. We are consumers with a passion for food and our mission is to bring you objective, fact-based information about food.

Our goal is to load your plate with a balanced diet of data so that you can make informed choices for yourself and your family – at home, at the grocery store, at your favorite restaurant – and feel confident in your decisions based on an understanding of all sides of the smorgasbord of food issues. It’s a tall order, we know, but we’re constantly in the kitchen whipping up food facts and are ready to fill your plate!

How it works

We have enlisted the help of more than 200 food system experts — ranging from university-based scientists to the Registered Dietitian community to the farmers themselves where the food cycle begins — who understand the science behind what’s in your food and what it means for your health.

We ask lots of questions here at Best Food Facts. We keep track of online conversations to know what food issues people are talking about, we monitor news coverage of topics related to food and health, and we welcome questions from readers. Let’s face it – there is so much information out there, it can be challenging to discern what is truthful and what is misleading. So we take these questions to a qualified expert in the subject area, write objective content and send it to you to use for making decisions about food and health.

What We Believe

Real people, not robots, manage the Best Food Facts website. We’re consumers, we have families, and we eat! We absolutely love food and we have a lot of the same questions and concerns about our food, where it comes from and how it affects our bodies.

That’s why we strive to provide accurate, trustworthy information that you can use and share with confidence. The articles we post are not our opinions. Each article is written with the purpose to provide you with science-based information backed up by our network of experts that includes University researchers, Ph.D. scientists, Registered Dietitians and established experts in their field of study. At times, scientists differ in their opinions and interpretation of data. We present these views with the goal to promote discussion.

We do not advocate for any particular type of food system, production or processing method, food product or label. We realize you do not need someone to tell you what to eat, but you do deserve the truth about food so you can make your own decisions.

Best Food Facts is supported by The Center for Food Integrity and The Canadian Center for Food Integrity, not-for-profit organizations that help today’s food system earn consumer trust.
