Lately, we’ve been indulging in all of the sweet finds at Completely Delicious! Though we find it hard to believe that blogger Annalise Sandberg is self-taught by trial and error, we’re elated that she has a “sweet tooth that can’t be tamed,” because we get to reap the totally drool-worthy benefits!

You can also find recommendations on baking tools and a “Baking Tips” section where Annalise shares some of her favorite tricks of the trade, like how to make perfectly flaky pie crust or build a layered cake.

We had a chance to catch up with Annalise and pick her brain on why she started blogging, her favorite food and more.

What inspired you to become a blogger?
Other food bloggers around me were my biggest inspiration. It started with me just making their recipes, but then I started creating my own recipes and wanted to share them with my family and friends. So I started my own blog!

Favorite food:
Layer cakes are my ultimate favorite, though I can't say, "no," to anything sweet.

Sweet or savory … or both:
Definitely, sweet!

Favorite trick of the trade:
Confidence is my most valuable tool. Once I learned a few things and felt confident in my ability, I really began to grow as a baker and cook.
 
Favorite food substitute:
I love buttermilk for some reason and look for ways to incorporate it in a lot of my baked goods for an added depth of flavor. I swap it in for milk and even heavy cream in cakes, biscuits, breads, etc.
 
One piece of advice you would give to novice cooks:
Don't be afraid! Start with recipes you feel comfortable with and work your way up to ones that are more challenging. I'm almost completely self-taught, so I know it can be done!

Favorite kitchen gadget:
I would be lost without my KitchenAid stand mixer.

What’s your biggest food splurge?
Quality cocoa powder. I know that may seem weird, but spending just a few extra dollars really makes a difference in the chocolate flavor of the final product.

Favorite recipe you’ve posted:
My brown butter chocolate chip cookies are my all-time favorite recipe and the one that I use the most from my blog.
